| Another great buy at the SVD | | Saint Vincient DePaul is one of the thrift stores I frequent on paydays. Because I am always able to get something...clothing or house stuff there for practically nothing. It's like an ongoing huge yard sale. But one thing I have noticed is there stuff is a lot better condition than it used to be.Here's what I got for $20.18 a wool blazer that looks practically new (scored that for $4) and three long sleeved shirts and two really nice sweaters. Honestly I was the happiest about the coat. I have always wanted one like this but never wanted to pay the price tag that accompanies it in the stores. As always I tend to buy classic clothes that can span many different seasons. Also, one thing I did notice but it did not deter me one bit was their prices raising about a $1 or so. Still even with the slight increase I do know for one thing the money is going to a good cause and they are lower priced than many other thrift stores. And honestly after I heard Joe Boxer is doing a line for the Goodwill (which I stopped going there a long time ago b/c they have been quite high with their prices) and charging anywhere from $15-300 for this line called William Good. I am still out on this... | |
| | College Decision | | For those of you who have graduated college or are currently undergoing a degree, how did you choose the college or university you are attending/attended? I know that my decision was long and changed quite frequently. At first I was a major fan of Miami (FL), went to a few football camps there and practically picked my dorm room while I was visiting. However, living in Chicago I grew to feel that Miami was a little too far away. I then looked into Indiana, to which I went as far as registering for fall semester classes. After my summer internship I found a job that I really wanted to pursuit. So I decided to stick around in the city (Depaul) and pursuit my career while earning my degree. How about you? | |
| | Diversity | | I'm trying to find out what college or university was voted the most diverse? Also, I'm trying to see where depaul university in Chicago, Illinois rankswer priced than many other thrift stores. And honestly after I heard Joe Boxer is doing a line for the Goodwill (which I stopped going there a long time ago b/c they have been quite high with their prices) and charging anywhere from $15-300 for this line called William Good. I am still out on this one. I am sure it is for a good cause also, but seriously the cost is what gets me. Most people shopping there don't have the cash to spend $15 on a recycled shirt....but that is besides the point.Anyhow, did anyone else find any sweet bargains this lovely weekend for a yard sale? There were massive yard sales going on in my area (175 mile yard sale) involving four or so counties for three days. People were everywhere. I think it had a better turn out than our National Barbecue Fest.Happy thrifting. | |
