| | 2009-10 College Football Preseason Predictions! | | As the 2009-10 College Football season approaches, It is safe to say that there will still not be a playoffs this year or for years to come. But, that does not take away the excitement, passion, and the tradition of rival games away from the sport itself. All the controversy behind the BCS computer ranking system, the polls, and Conference Presidents, Chancellors, and Commissioners is the reason why there will never be a playoff, and it is not OK! One main reason that there will be no playoffs is because several conferences had bowl deals before the BCS was created in 1998, which tells me that most schools will prefer to have a bowl game at the end of the year regardless on how good or bad thier season may have been, as long as they win 6 games. The problem is the elite conferences may get thier 3rd through 6th place teams in a bowl game from automatic bids over a Non BCS conference 1st and 2nd place team. What's really funny is the Non BCS conferences schools have to be good over a span of 4 years before they can be considered to play in a BCS Bowl game, schools like Utah and Boise State. That's what I call friendship football at it's finest, but even I can't deny that there are... | |
| | Get Ready for a Wild weather | | El Niño conditions return to affect weather.El Nino is back.Government scientists said Thursday that the periodic warming of water in the tropical Pacific Ocean, which can affect weather around the world, has returned. The Pacific had been in what is called a neutral state, but forecasters at the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration say the sea surface temperature climbed to 1.8 degrees Fahrenheit above normal along a narrow band in the eastern equatorial Pacific in June.In addition, NOAA's Climate Prediction Center said temperatures in other tropical regions are also above normal, with warmer than usual readings as much as 975 feet below the ocean surface. In general, El Nino conditions are associated with increased rainfall across the east-central and eastern Pacific and with drier than normal conditions over northern Australia, Indonesia and the Philippines.A summer El Nino can lead to wetter than normal conditions in the intermountain regions of the United States and over central Chile. In an El Nino year there tend to be more Eastern Pacific hurricanes and fewer Atlantic hurricanes. The forecasters said they expect this El Nino to continue... | |
| | you never know what you will find on craigslist this is real story | | http://www.myfoxatlanta.com/myfox/pages/Home/Detail?contentId=6923862&version=2&locale=EN-US&layoutCode=TSTY&pageId=1.1.1This is one of those things you only hear about in the movies and it gave me a much needed laugh today, so what I see is that there is a Georgia Tech Student who is a junior that doesn't know how to kissSo he turned to the popular forum Craigslist, to learn how to kissSo this is life imitates art?The thought of many is that he is looking for some 'action', but he really wants to learn to kiss...So far no one will take him up on it, and his mom will attest to the authenticity of the ad, as will his best friend who has never seen him kiss anyone...Ok for the discussion part1) would you take this seriously if you saw an ad like this
2) would you offer to teach someone to kiss? And to have no relationship or attatchment
3) Or would you just laugh at the ad, and think it al a joke?Mooch
| | The Photograph 5.3: A Meeting Gone Bad | | 5.3:
The rain had blown out by Wednesday, leaving great fall weather for Thanksgiving and the Friday afterwards. A pristine blue sky, scrubbed clean by the recent rain, stretched from horizon to horizon. The sun sliced through the canyon walls of downtown Atlanta as we made our way down Peachtree Street. Darius Murphy’s last known address was out on East Ponce de Leon. We’d try there first. While I wanted to talk to Darius Murphy, I didn’t want to talk to him with Frank around. It had nothing to do with not trusting Frank, but everything to do with keeping my word. Even though he forced my hand, I had to be someone Murphy could trust. If he didn’t trust me, he wouldn’t talk to me.Frank Hobbs or no Frank Hobbs. There was a festive air about downtown Atlanta this morning. Crisp fall day.Clear blue sky. The tailgate parties had started to set up along Techwood Drive down from Bobby Dodd Stadium before sunrise. The Georgia – Georgia Tech annual football game would be played in Atlanta this year and the tailgate parties started to set up early, securing those prime locations street side before tomorrow’s noon kickoff.Plus, you couple that with this being...
| | The Photograph 3.2: A Break | | Last one for awhile. I'll give y'all time to catch up and digest this3.2Remember what I said about measuring time in halves that occur before and after the particular epiphany in question? Up until now, I always saw time in BMD and AMD: Before Mary Died and After Mary Died. When the call went out over the dispatch radio, I began to measure time in what happened before I saw the photograph video and what happened after I saw the video.I haven’t had a positive break in anything regarding Mary’s case in like… ever. In fact, this would be the first. The call went out at 8:02 AM. 10-16, domestic disturbance. Dispatch gave the residence, a Techwood Drive address over near Georgia Tech. “Complainant reports that a subject identified as Darius Lamar Murphy is in violation of a restraining order. Complainant is Chantelle Jackson Murphy listed at the same address. Assistance is requested.”“Let’s go get some bad guys,” Frank said and pulled out around traffic. I snapped the emergency light on the front dash and Frank hit the siren.“Kind out of our ball park isn’t it?”“I was tired of sitting in traffic anyway,” he said. “Come on. It’s your... | |
| | NFL 2007 Draft "Judgement Day" | | With the draft rolling around the corner the big question is who going first. Will it be Mr. Automatic, Calvin Johnson out of Georgia Tech; or will it Jamrcus "the cannon" Russell out of LSU?The games for this season came to a conclusion with the Super Bowl, but the planning for next season began Feb. 4th. So for fantasy players and fans alike who is going to be the big dog rookie comin' out of the little leagues to put up big numbers on the Jumbo-tron?this is what we must ask ourselves for the upcoming 2007 NFL season. | |
| | High Density Cooling: A Practical Application For Water In The Data Center | | t is a well known fact that the latest computing technology is pushing the limits of today’s data centers in more ways than one. Most end users cite challenges in space utilization, power delivery, cooling, and even structural loading. Server form factors have shrunk from the multi-EIA unit packages of yesterday to the sleek blade form factor that allows as many as 84 servers to be packaged in a single rack. Consolidation of applications from larger, legacy machines to the smaller, more powerful blades creates both the ability and the desire to pack more servers into existing data center spaces. This increases the importance of collaboration between the business partners who share ownership of different portions of the data center, namely the IT and facilities organizations.Georgia Tech’s Razor HPC cluster, at the Institute’s Center for the Study of Systems Biology (CSSB), demonstrates a cross-organizational, collaborative solution for space utilization and cooling. | |
| | Who will be the top 5 picks in the NFL Draft? | | Ok I will give you the teams along with my predictions. I'm just interested in what you all think! Oh and remember Cleveland and Tampa are flipping next year for 3rd pick.
My Picks
1. Oakland Raiders - JaMarcus Russell, QB, LSU
One thing Oakland has never had is a mobile quarterback that throws better than he can run. This would be a great pick for Oakland.
2. Detroit Lions - Troy Smith, QB, Ohio State
Troy Smith showed what he could do this year and has won the Heisman Trophy. I personally believe Russell is a better QB on a worse team right now so I think Troy Smith will be chosen 2nd.
3. Cleveland Browns - Aaron Ross, CB, Texas
Cleveland has a young QB, a veteran line, a productive RB, a tight end, and 3 good WR so now it is time to beef up the defense. Who better than the 2 time Jim Thorpe award winner.
4. Tampa Bay Buccaneers - Calvin Johnson, WR, Georgia Tech
I think Calvin Johnson will leave for the draft this year and do a great job in the draft. Tampa Bay has some Old receivers and its time to start a new Generation of them. I believe Johnson is the best receiver in the draft right now.
5. Washington Redskins - Paul Posluszny, LB, Penn StatePaul Posluszny...
