| | | Identify That Bird! | | For weeks I've been hearing a bird that sounds like a kite fussing at my cat. Kites are known to be very aggressive and territorial and have even attacked people walking across the Texas Tech campus, so I was a little worried about a bird attacking my old, decrepit cat. I finally saw the little bugger one day and it was a very small, slender bird (definitelynota kite) that had obviously built a nest in the tree closest to the house and was warning the cat away. The cat would sit on the porch in a position that looked like she didn't know whether to attack or run and stare at the little bird scolding her.One of my myLot buddies came to visit me this weekend and as she and my daughter were looking around at my yard I looked up in time to see that little bird dive bomb my cat as she made her way from the shade of the tree to the porch. The cat didn't move fast enough and the bird attacked again just before she went under the porch. My friend had heard the bird before she saw it and asked if it was a mocking bird and I told her I didn't know but it was driving my cat nuts. After the cat went under the porch the bird perched on the bed of my pickup and continued to... | |
| | Over 20 Years Of Chronic Pain. | | It even seems hard for me to believe it has been close to 21 years since my headache began. I can remember back when it was only in its sixth year when I thought there was no hope. It was fairly early in the morning central standard time, I had gotten up early to call a hospital that was evaluating my case, I believe it was one out of Chicago, not that it really matters now, the point was they were on eastern standard time and I wanted to make sure I was able to talk to the Dr. about any possible treatments available which were basically experimental. Because by this time I had tried every treatment known, including going to Texas Tech Medical School where there was one of the premier doctors on pain management in the world. I have sense talked to other Dr.'s and many have either heard of him or went to one of his lectures. Of course I don't even care to remember his name since he did more harm than good. I also went to a pain specialist in San Antonio TX. where the Dr. put me on methadone to treat the pain, however; giving someone who had self medicated most of their life, not knowing that they were like the thousands of other people with bipolar doing the same thing, some... | |
| | Socialism Explained | | An economics professor at Texas Tech said he had never failed a single student before but had, once, failed an entire class. That class had insisted that socialism worked and that no one would be poor and no one would be rich, a great equalizer. The professor then said OK, we will have an experiment in this class on socialism. All grades would be averaged and everyone would receive the same grade, so no one would fail and no one would receive an A.After the first test the grades were averaged and everyone got a B. The students who studied hard were upset and the students who studied little were happy. But, as the second test rolled around, the students who studied little had studied even less, and the ones who studied hard decided they wanted a free ride too; so they studied little. The second test average was a D! No one was happy. When the 3rd test rolled around the average was an F. The scores never increased as bickering, blame, name calling all resulted in hard feelings and no one would study for the benefit of anyone else. All failed, to their great surprise, and the professor told them that socialism would also ultimately fail, because when the reward is great,... | |
| | Just Something To Ponder!! | | For all of you people who believe life would be a dream under a socialistic government and all of you who might be on the fence about this subject, consider this true story:An economics professor at Texas Tech said he had never failed a single student before but had, once, failed an entire class. That class had insisted that socialism worked and that no one would be poor and no one would be rich, a great equalizer. The professor then said ok, we will have an experiment in this class on socialism. All grades would be averaged and everyone would receive the same grade so no one would fail and no one would receive an A. After the first test the grades were averaged and everyone got a B. The students who studied hard were upset and the students who studied little were happy. But, as the second test rolled around, the students who studied little had studied even less and the ones who studied hard decided they wanted a free ride too; so they studied little.. The second test average was a D! No one was happy. When the 3rd test rolled around the average was an F.The scores never increased as bickering, blame, name calling all resulted in hard feelings and no one would study for... | |
| | It's OVER! | | Thank God, the Cotton Bowl is over! Yes I live in Lubbock Texas, home of the texas tech red raiders. Yes I have one offspring who graduated from Texas Tech, but I do not think that football, on any level should pre-empt every single program on TV for a whole week! I'm obviously in the minority on that or the networks wouldn't do such a thing, but I'm just wondering if any one else out there who doesn't have cable or satalite TV is as relieved as I am.tudied hard decided they wanted a free ride too; so they studied little.. The second test average was a D! No one was happy. When the 3rd test rolled around the average was an F.The scores never increased as bickering, blame, name calling all resulted in hard feelings and no one would study for the benefit of anyone else. All failed, to their great surprise, and the professor told them that socialism would also ultimately fail because when the reward is great, the effort to succeed is great; but when government takes all the reward away; no one will try or want to succeed.Could not be any simpler than that....

| | How would you Fix the BCS? | | Ok, so it looks like the NCAA is stuck with the Bowl System, but right now it's a joke. What are your ideas on fixing it? Here's something i'm rattling around.*6 Conference champs get the auto bid, HOWEVER the champ must have at least 10 wins and be Top 20 in the Rankings. The conferences ranked from 1-11 (Rankings change every 3 yrs) and we go down the line until we get 6 berths. (My ranks would be the 6 BCS teams, then Mtn West, C-USA, WAC, MAC, Sun Belt)*'BCS Buster' gets an auto-berth if they are Qualify like before (Top 12 BCS, Conference champ) and are not already in from rule 1*Notre Dame gets in if they are Top 8 (same as current rule)*A max of 3 teams are allowed in per conference (current is 2). This fixes the rare problem like this year's Big 12*Any leftover spots are wild-cards, as per the current rules (at least 9 wins, Top-14 BCS)So, for example, this season it could mean the following lineup:Alabama/Florida winner (SEC)
Missouri/Big 12 South Winner (B12)
Penn State (B10)
Cincinatti (Big East if they stay in top 20)
None (ACC)
None (Pac-10, unless USC can win the Conf title)
Utah (MWC)
Boise St. (WAC, unless USC wins the... | |
| | Do u like Denzel Washington? | | Hello Friends, Well Iam a fan of Denzel. He is one of the finest Hollywood actor i have seen. His famous movies are Deja vu, Man of Fire ( My favourite ), Hurricane etc.A lil bit of Denzel here: Denzel Washington was born in Mt. Vernon, New York. His mother, Lennis "Lynne", was a beauty parlor-owner and operator born in Georgia and raised in Harlem. His father, Reverend Denzel Washington, Sr., was an ordained Pentecostal minister and also worked for the Water Department and at a local department store, "S. Klein". When Washington was fourteen his parents' marriage took a turn for the worse and he and his older sister were sent away to boarding school so that they would not be exposed to their parents' eventual divorce.[citation needed]Washington was interested in attending texas tech university: "I grew up in the Boys Club in Mount Vernon, and we were the Red Raiders. So when I was in high school, I wanted to go to Texas Tech in Lubbock just because they were called the Red Raiders and their uniforms looked like ours. Nevertheless, Washington earned a B.A. in Drama and Journalism from Fordham University in 1977. .
Cheers,
