| | Journey To Prickets Fort With Me | | Prickets Fort is in West Virginia. It was a fort that was used used in the late 1700's to protect settlers from the Native Americans. The Fort itself is lined along the inside walls with 14 tiny cabins. When the threat of an attack occurred, pioneers would come from miles around to shelter in the fort. | What is your favorite spot in WV? | | I am a WV boy born and raised in Morgantown (Home of The WVU Mountaineers!) I have been all over this great state and I have fell in love with so many spots. I love my hometown of Morgantown and Milan Puskar Stadium and The Colisium are probably my favorite spots in the whole state b/c I love my Mountys! But as far as scenic I have to give it to Spruce Knob(the highest mountain in the mountain state). What is yours fellow WV travelers and lovers! | |
| | | Hate Crime Against W. Va. Black Woman | | I just heard something on the news which caused my feelings to run the gamut from horror, to rage, to pity. In the foothills of West Virginia a black woman was held captive, tortured, stabbed, and sexually assaulted for a week. She was also subjected to racial slurs during this time and made to eat animal waste. The 6 white people who were arrested for this crime included a mother and son, and a mother and daughter. What could have been on these people's minds? I don't understand how anyone could treat another human being in such a fashion. Luckily the 20-year-old young woman survived and is recuperating in the hospital. Will the day ever come when we will no more hear of things like this? | |
